Who said cats are afraid of water? They just don't want to get their ears and bellies wet.
See, this one just won olympic gold medal in freestyle, and thus getting a real massage in the olympic spa center.
 That's cats life.
Did you know that not all felines dislike water. Actually, cats residing in warm/hot locales have a tendency to love it (this includes lions, tigers and jaguars.) Some veterinarians believe that water destroys how fur insulates an animal against cold. Although most domestic cats do not like water so much, none completely avoid it.
Turkish Van cats love water. They not only dabble in water and play with it, but have been known to enter ponds and even horse-troughs for a swim – they soon became famous as the 'swimming cats.'
